HOXD3

Description

The HOXD3 (homeobox D3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

The HOXD3 gene encodes a protein called Homeobox protein Hox-D3. This protein is part of a large family of proteins known as homeobox proteins, which are involved in the development of body structures. HOXD3 is one of several HOXD genes found on chromosome 2. These genes are arranged in a cluster, and deletions that remove the entire cluster or parts of it have been linked to severe developmental problems, particularly affecting limbs and genitals. HOXD3 is believed to be involved in controlling how cells stick together, a crucial aspect of development.

HOXD3 is also known as HOX1D, HOX4, HOX4A, Hox-4.1.
