HOXC9
Description
The HOXC9 (homeobox C9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
HOXC9 gene encodes the Homeobox protein Hox-C9, a transcription factor involved in morphogenesis. It belongs to the HOXC gene cluster, located on chromosome 12. HOXC genes are part of a larger family of homeobox genes, which are essential for development in all multicellular organisms. HOXC9's function is crucial in defining the spatial organization of cells during development, particularly along the body's anterior-posterior axis.
HOXC9 is also known as HOX3, HOX3B.
