HOXC4

Description

The HOXC4 (homeobox C4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

HOXC4 is a homeobox gene that encodes a transcription factor involved in the development of multicellular organisms. HOXC4 is part of the HOXC gene cluster located on chromosome 12. It is expressed in a variety of tissues and plays a role in morphogenesis. Three genes, HOXC5, HOXC4 and HOXC6, share a 5' non-coding exon. Two alternatively spliced variants of HOXC4 exist, both encoding the same protein. HOXC4 has been shown to interact with Ku70.

HOXC4 is also known as HOX3, HOX3E, cp19.
