HOXB5

Description

The HOXB5 (homeobox B5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The HOXB5 gene encodes a protein called Homeobox protein Hox-B5, which is involved in regulating the development of the lungs and gut. It's a member of the Antp homeobox family and has a DNA-binding domain. Higher levels of this gene are linked to certain types of leukemia (AML) and developmental abnormalities in the lungs (BPS and CCAM).

HOXB5 is also known as HHO.C10, HOX2, HOX2A, HU-1, Hox2.1.
