HOXB-AS3

Description

The HOXB-AS3 (HOXB cluster antisense RNA 3) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 17.

HOXB-AS3 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that acts as a regulator of gene expression. It is involved in the splicing of the PKM gene, promoting the inclusion of exon 10 and suppressing the inclusion of exon 9. This leads to the production of the PKM M1 isoform instead of the M2 isoform. HOXB-AS3 also plays a role in the processing of microRNA 18a. Additionally, it interacts with the IGF2BP2 protein, promoting the stability of the MYC protein.

HOXB-AS3 regulates the expression of the PKM gene by inhibiting the binding of HNRNPA1 to its intronic sequences flanking exon 9. This leads to a decrease in the PKM M2 isoform and an increase in the M1 isoform. HOXB-AS3 also suppresses HNRNPA1-mediated processing of microRNA 18a. Furthermore, HOXB-AS3 interacts with IGF2BP2, enhancing the stability of MYC.
