HOXA10

Description

The HOXA10 (homeobox A10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

HOXA10 is a human gene that encodes the Homeobox protein Hox-A10, a transcription factor. HOXA10 is part of the A cluster of homeobox genes on chromosome 7. These genes are expressed in a spatially and temporally regulated manner during embryonic development. HOXA10 plays a role in fertility, embryo viability, and regulation of hematopoietic lineage commitment. It is downregulated in the decidua after implantation, promoting trophoblast invasion by activating STAT3. HOXA10 interacts with the protein PTPN6.

HOXA10 is a sequence-specific transcription factor that plays a crucial role in the developmental regulatory system, providing cells with specific positional identities along the anterior-posterior axis. It binds to the DNA sequence 5'-AA[AT]TTTTATTAC-3'.

HOXA10 is also known as HOX1, HOX1.8, HOX1H, PL.
