HNRNPUL1

Description

The HNRNPUL1 (heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein U like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

HNRNPUL1 acts as a basic transcriptional regulator. It represses basal transcription driven by various viral and cellular promoters. When associated with BRD7, it activates transcription of glucocorticoid-responsive promoters even in the absence of ligand stimulation. Additionally, HNRNPUL1 plays a role in mRNA processing and transport. In vitro studies show that it strongly binds to poly(G) and poly(C) RNA homopolymers.

HNRNPUL1 is also known as E1B-AP5, E1BAP5, HNRPUL1.
