HNRNPAB

Description

The HNRNPAB (heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A/B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

HNRNPAB, also known as HNRNP A/B, is a protein encoded by the HNRNPAB gene in humans. It is not a member of the HNRNP A/B subfamily, but is closely related to HNRNPD/AUF1 and HNRNPDL. This gene belongs to the ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) subfamily. These proteins are produced by RNA polymerase II and are components of the heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) complexes, associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus. They influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. Some hnRNPs shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. HNRNPAB has distinct nucleic acid binding properties with two repeats of quasi-RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains that bind to RNAs. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. HNRNPAB has been shown to interact with TP63.

HNRNPAB is also known as ABBP1, HNRPAB.
