HIRIP3 (HIRA-interacting protein 3) is a human protein encoded by the HIRIP3 gene. It shares sequence similarity with yeast proteins Hir1p and Hir2p, which are involved in repressing histone gene transcription. The structure of HIRIP3 suggests it might function within a protein complex. HIRIP3 has been shown to bind to HIRA and to the core histones H2B and H3 in laboratory settings, suggesting that it could be part of a complex involved in chromatin and histone metabolism.
