HGFAC

Description

The HGFAC (HGF activator) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

Hepatocyte growth factor activator is a protein encoded by the HGFAC gene in humans. It belongs to peptidase family S1 and is initially synthesized as an inactive single-chain precursor. It is activated to a heterodimeric form through endoproteolytic processing, becoming a serine protease that converts hepatocyte growth factor into its active form.

HGFAC activates hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) by converting it from a single chain to a heterodimeric form.

HGFAC is also known as HGFA.
