HEXIM2

Description

The HEXIM2 (HEXIM P-TEFb complex subunit 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Protein HEXIM2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HEXIM2 gene.

HEXIM2 acts as a general inhibitor of RNA polymerase II transcription. It is a core component of the 7SK RNP complex, where it works alongside 7SK snRNA to sequester P-TEFb. This sequestration prevents RNA polymerase II phosphorylation and subsequent transcriptional elongation.

HEXIM2 is also known as L3.
