HECTD4

Description

The HECTD4 (HECT domain E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

HECTD4, also known as HECT domain E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 4, is a protein encoded by the HECTD4 gene in humans.

HECTD4 acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, a crucial enzyme in the ubiquitination process. It receives ubiquitin from an E2 enzyme, forming a thioester bond. Subsequently, HECTD4 directly transfers this ubiquitin molecule to specific target proteins, thereby marking them for various cellular processes.

HECTD4 is also known as C12ord51, C12orf51, HEEL, NEDSSCC, POTAGE.
