HECTD3

Description

The HECTD3 (HECT domain E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

HECTD3 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that accepts ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme and transfers it to target proteins. This process, known as ubiquitination, marks proteins for degradation by the proteasome. HECTD3 specifically targets TRIOBP for ubiquitination, leading to its degradation and promoting cell cycle progression. It also appears to ubiquitinate STX8, although this interaction is based on similarity with other proteins.

HECTD3 is also known as -.
