HAS3

Description

The HAS3 (hyaluronan synthase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

Hyaluronan synthase 3 is an enzyme encoded by the HAS3 gene in humans. This protein is involved in the synthesis of hyaluronan, also known as hyaluronic acid, which is a major component of the extracellular matrix. The HAS3 gene is part of the NODC/HAS gene family. This protein appears to be a regulator of hyaluronan synthesis compared to proteins encoded by other members of this family. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
