GULP1

Description

The GULP1 (GULP PTB domain containing engulfment adaptor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

GULP1, also known as CED-6 homolog, is a protein that may function as an adapter protein in the process of phagocytosis. It is required for efficient engulfment of apoptotic cells. GULP1 also modulates the transport of glycosphingolipids and cholesterol within cells. It is thought to play a role in the internalization and trafficking of various ligands that bind to LRP1, including PSAP. Additionally, GULP1 increases cellular levels of the active form of ARF6, a protein involved in membrane trafficking.

GULP1 is also known as CED-6, CED6, GULP.
