GTPBP1

Description

The GTPBP1 (GTP binding protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

GTP-binding protein 1 is a protein encoded by the GTPBP1 gene in humans. The gene's expression is increased by interferon-gamma. The protein belongs to the AGP11/GTPBP1 family of GTP-binding proteins. A similar protein exists in mice, but disrupting the gene in mice had no observable effect.

GTPBP1 promotes the degradation of specific mRNA molecules and contributes to the regulation of circadian mRNA stability. It binds to GTP and possesses GTPase activity.

GTPBP1 is also known as GP-1, GP1, HSPC018.
