GTF2F1

Description

The GTF2F1 (general transcription factor IIF subunit 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

General transcription factor IIF subunit 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GTF2F1 gene. GTF2F1 has been shown to interact with other proteins.

TFIIF, a general transcription initiation factor, plays a crucial role in the process of gene transcription. It binds to RNA polymerase II, a key enzyme in the process, and helps it to assemble at the initiation complex, the starting point for transcription. This assembly is facilitated by TFIIB, another transcription factor. TFIIF also contributes to the elongation phase of transcription, where RNA polymerase II moves along the DNA template, creating a copy of the gene in the form of RNA.

GTF2F1 is also known as BTF4, RAP74, TF2F1, TFIIF.
