GTDC1

Description

The GTDC1 (glycosyltransferase like domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

GTDC1, also known as tRNA-queuosine alpha-mannosyltransferase (QTMAN), is a glycosyltransferase that specifically adds a mannose sugar to a modified base called queuosine at position 34 in a specific type of transfer RNA called tRNA(Asp). This modification, known as mannosyl-queuosine(34), is essential for regulating protein translation. The presence of mannosyl-queuosine(34) in tRNA(Asp) slows down the process of protein synthesis at specific codons (GAC and GAU), leading to a fine-tuning of protein production.

GTDC1 is also known as Hmat-Xa, QTMAN, mat-Xa.
