GSTT2B

Description

The GSTT2B (glutathione S-transferase theta 2B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

GSTT2B is a human gene that encodes a protein involved in detoxification. This protein, also known as Glutathione S-transferase theta-2, forms a dimer and participates in removing harmful substances from the body by attaching glutathione to them. It also has the ability to remove sulfate groups from molecules.

GSTT2B plays a role in detoxification by conjugating reduced glutathione to a wide variety of hydrophobic electrophiles, both those originating from outside the body (exogenous) and those produced within the body (endogenous). It also exhibits sulfatase activity, which involves the removal of sulfate groups from molecules.

GSTT2B is also known as GSTT2P.
