GSDMA
Description
The GSDMA (gasdermin A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
Gasdermin A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GSDMA gene.
Gasdermin-A acts as a sensor of infection. When epithelial cells are infected by S. pyogenes, the effector protein SpeB cleaves Gasdermin-A, releasing the N-terminal moiety. This moiety binds to membranes and forms pores, triggering pyroptosis. (PubMed:27281216, PubMed:35110732, PubMed:35545676)
GSDMA is also known as FKSG9, GSDM, GSDM1.
