GPR171

Description

The GPR171 (G protein-coupled receptor 171) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

GPR171 is a protein that is encoded by the GPR171 gene in humans. It is a probable G-protein coupled receptor.

GPR171 acts as a receptor for Big LEN, a 16-amino acid neuropeptide derived from the proSAAS precursor protein (encoded by PCSK1N). It signals through a G(i)-alpha-mediated pathway in response to Big LEN. The Big LEN-GPR171 system plays a critical role in regulating feeding and metabolism. Additionally, it influences fear and anxiety-like behaviors within the basolateral amygdala. GPR171 also modulates mu-type opioid receptor signaling and antinociception. Notably, it functions as a negative regulator of T cell activity (PubMed:34615877).

GPR171 is also known as H963.
