GNB2

Description

The GNB2 (G protein subunit beta 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

The GNB2 gene encodes the beta-2 subunit of heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins), which play a crucial role in signal transduction. These proteins integrate signals between receptors and effector proteins and consist of three subunits: alpha, beta, and gamma. The beta subunit is a key regulator of alpha subunits, as well as certain signal transduction receptors and effectors.

G proteins act as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. The beta and gamma chains play a crucial role in the GTPase activity, the replacement of GDP by GTP, and G protein-effector interactions.

GNB2 is also known as HG2C1, SSS4, SSS4; NEDHYDF.
