GLYATL2

Description

The GLYATL2 (glycine-N-acyltransferase like 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

GLYATL2 is a mitochondrial acyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of an acyl group to the N-terminus of glycine. It can conjugate various substrates, including arachidonoyl-CoA and saturated medium and long-chain acyl-CoAs (C8:0-CoA to C18:0-CoA), forming a range of N-acylglycines. Notably, GLYATL2 displays a preference for monounsaturated fatty acid oleoyl-CoA (C18:1-CoA) as an acyl donor. However, it does not exhibit activity toward C22:6-CoA, chenodeoxycholoyl-CoA, serine, or alanine.

GLYATL2 is also known as BXMAS2-10, GATF-B.
