GLP2R

Description

The GLP2R (glucagon like peptide 2 receptor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The glucagon-like peptide-2 receptor (GLP-2R) is a protein encoded by the GLP2R gene on chromosome 17 in humans. It belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, closely resembling the glucagon receptor (GLP1 receptor). GLP-2R is activated by glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP2), a 33-amino acid peptide produced by intestinal enteroendocrine cells. GLP2 plays a crucial role in stimulating intestinal growth, increasing villus height in the small intestine, promoting crypt cell proliferation, and reducing enterocyte apoptosis. It also prevents intestinal hypoplasia caused by total parenteral nutrition. GLP2R is expressed in the gut and shares a close relationship with the glucagon receptor (GCGR) and the GLP1 receptor (GLP1R).

GLP2R is a receptor for glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2). Its activity is initiated through G proteins, which activate adenylyl cyclase.

GLP2R is also known as -.
