GFRA3

Description

The GFRA3 (GDNF family receptor alpha 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

GFRA3, also known as the artemin receptor, is a protein encoded by the GFRA3 gene. This protein is a cell surface receptor that binds to the artemin ligand, forming a signaling complex with the RET tyrosine kinase receptor. In mouse studies, GFRA3 has been shown to play a role in osteoarthritis. Blocking GFRA3 with antibodies prevented artemin from binding and signaling pain, leading to improved limb function in arthritic mice.

GFRA3 acts as a receptor for the neurotrophic factor artemin (ARTN). It mediates the activation of the RET receptor tyrosine kinase by binding to ARTN and triggering its autophosphorylation.

GFRA3 is also known as GDNFR3.
