GFRA1

Description

The GFRA1 (GDNF family receptor alpha 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

GFRA1, also known as the GDNF receptor, is a protein that plays a key role in the survival and differentiation of neurons. It is a receptor for both GDNF and neurturin, two neurotrophic factors. GFRA1 binds to these factors and activates the RET tyrosine kinase receptor, which is important for neuronal survival and growth. This gene is also a candidate gene for Hirschsprung disease.

Acts as a receptor for GDNF. Plays a crucial role in triggering the autophosphorylation and activation of the RET receptor in response to GDNF.

GFRA1 is also known as GDNFR, GDNFR-alpha-1, GDNFRA, GFR-ALPHA-1, GFRalpha-1, RET1L, RETL1, RHDA4, TRNR1.
