Cancer of the lungs
Lung cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the lungs. It occurs when cells in the lungs grow abnormally and form tumors. These tumors can interfere with the functioning of the lungs, affecting breathing and oxygen exchange. Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide and is often associated with smoking, though it can also occur in non-smokers due to other factors such as exposure to secondhand smoke, environmental pollutants like radon or asbestos, or genetic predisposition.
