Venlafaxine
Description
Venlafaxine is a commonly prescribed antidepressant medication belonging to the class of drugs known as serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). It works by increasing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, which are neurotransmitters involved in regulating mood, sleep, and appetite. Venlafaxine is used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), as well as other conditions such as social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It is available in both immediate-release and extended-release formulations, and it is typically taken once or twice a day.
