Ticagrelor
Description
Ticagrelor is a potent antiplatelet medication prescribed to prevent blood clots in individuals with a high risk of cardiovascular events. It works by blocking the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, inhibiting their ability to clump together and form clots. Ticagrelor is commonly used after a heart attack, stroke, or in patients with unstable angina to reduce the risk of future events. It is typically taken in tablet form, twice a day, and is generally well-tolerated. However, like all medications, it can have side effects, including bleeding, and potential interactions with other drugs.
