ZRANB1
Description
The ZRANB1 (zinc finger RANBP2-type containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.
Zinc finger RANBP2-type containing 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ZRANB1 gene.
ZRANB1 is a ubiquitin thioesterase that specifically hydrolyzes ‘Lys-29‘-linked and ‘Lys-33‘-linked diubiquitin. It also cleaves ‘Lys-63‘-linked chains, but with 40-fold less efficiency compared to ‘Lys-29‘-linked ones. ZRANB1 positively regulates the Wnt signaling pathway by deubiquitinating APC protein, a negative regulator of Wnt-mediated transcription. It also acts as a regulator of autophagy by mediating deubiquitination of PIK3C3/VPS34, thereby promoting autophagosome maturation. ZRANB1 plays a role in the regulation of cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization, and is required for stress fiber dynamics and cell migration.
