ZNF322

Description

The ZNF322 (zinc finger protein 322) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

ZNF322 acts as a transcriptional activator, playing a critical role in maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells. It directly binds to the POU5F1 distal enhancer and NANOG proximal promoter, enhancing their expression. ZNF322 also interacts with numerous other gene promoters, regulating the expression of various pluripotency factors, both directly and indirectly. Additionally, it promotes the inhibition of MAPK signaling during embryonic stem cell differentiation.

ZNF322 is also known as HCG12, ZNF322A, ZNF388, ZNF489.
