ZNF263
Description
The ZNF263 (zinc finger protein 263) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
ZNF263 is a transcription factor that binds to the DNA sequence 5‘-TCCTCCC-3‘ and acts as a transcriptional repressor. It represses the expression of several genes, including SIX3, HS3ST1, and HS3ST3A1. ZNF263 binds to the promoter region of these genes and recruits other proteins involved in chromatin modification and transcriptional corepression, ultimately leading to methylation of the promoter and silencing of gene expression.
ZNF263 is also known as FPM315, ZKSCAN12, ZSCAN44.
