ZNF260
Description
The ZNF260 (zinc finger protein 260) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
ZNF260 plays a crucial role in heart function, acting as a regulator and mediator of alpha1-adrenergic signaling. It binds to specific DNA sequences known as PE response elements (PERE) within the promoter regions of genes like ANF/NPPA, directly activating their transcription. Furthermore, ZNF260 collaborates with GATA4, another critical heart regulator, suggesting a complex regulatory network within the heart.
ZNF260 is also known as OZRF1, PEX1, ZFP260.
