ZGPAT

The ZGPAT (zinc finger CCCH-type and G-patch domain containing) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.
Zinc finger CCCH-type with G patch domain-containing protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ZGPAT gene.
ZGPAT is a transcription repressor that specifically binds to the 5'-GGAG[GA]A[GA]A-3' consensus sequence. It represses transcription by recruiting the NuRD complex to target promoters. ZGPAT negatively regulates the expression of EGFR, a gene involved in cell proliferation, survival, and migration. Its ability to suppress genes in the EGFR pathway suggests that it may act as a tumor suppressor. ZGPAT has been shown to suppress breast carcinogenesis.
