ZDHHC23
Description
The ZDHHC23 (zinc finger DHHC-type palmitoyltransferase 23) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.
ZDHHC23 acts as a palmitoyltransferase, attaching palmitate to various proteins, potentially influencing a broad range of cellular activities. It specifically palmitoylates KCNMA1, guiding its localization to the plasma membrane. Furthermore, ZDHHC23 may regulate NOS1 and direct its localization to the synaptic membrane. These interactions are supported by experimental evidence from publications (PubMed:22399288).
ZDHHC23 is also known as DHHC-23, NIDD.
