YPEL5

Description

The YPEL5 (yippee like 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

YPEL5 is a component of the CTLH E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex. It selectively accepts ubiquitin from UBE2H, mediating ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of the transcription factor HBP1. This process is essential for normal cell proliferation.

YPEL5 is also known as CGI-127.
