YIPF6

Description

The YIPF6 (Yip1 domain family member 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

The Yip1 domain family consists of proteins crucial for regulating the movement of molecules within cells. This family includes nine members in humans, each with a unique structure containing five transmembrane domains. YIPF6 is a member of this family, localized within the Golgi apparatus, a cellular organelle responsible for processing and packaging molecules. YIPF6 interacts with other members of the family, forming complexes that control the flow of molecules between different compartments within the cell. Notably, YIPF6 is predominantly found in the Golgi apparatus, playing a role in the trafficking of molecules within this organelle.

YIPF6 may be essential for maintaining stable levels of YIPF1 and YIPF2 proteins.

YIPF6 is also known as FinGER6, YIPFalpha3, Yip4.
