YIPF3

Description

The YIPF3 (Yip1 domain family member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

The Yip1 domain family is a group of proteins that regulate secretory traffic in eukaryotes. There are nine members of this family in humans, which share a common structure with five transmembrane domains. These proteins are found in all eukaryotes, with two subgroups: α-subunits and β-subunits. In mammals, the α-subunits include YipF4, YipF5, YipF6, and YipF7, while the β-subunits include Yif1A, Yif1B, YipF1, YipF2, and YipF3. Members of the Yip1 domain family are located in the Golgi apparatus, where they interact to form complexes that regulate cargo trafficking within the Golgi and between the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi. The Yip1 domain family members are found throughout the body, except for YipF7, which is mainly found in skeletal muscle and tongue, and YipF1A, which is mainly found in the liver.

YIPF3 is also known as C6orf109, FinGER3, KLIP1, YIPFbeta2, Yip5b, dJ337H4.3.
