XPO6

Description

The XPO6 (exportin 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

Exportin-6 is a protein encoded by the XPO6 gene in humans. Exportins, like XPO6, bind to cargo in the nucleus when Ran-GTP is present, forming a complex. This complex is transported through nuclear pore complexes to the cytoplasm, where GTP is broken down and the complex disassembles.

Exportin-6 mediates the nuclear export of actin and profilin-actin complexes in somatic cells.

XPO6 is also known as EXP6, RANBP20.
