WWC3
Description
The WWC3 (WWC family member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.
WWC3 acts as a negative regulator within the Hippo signaling pathway (also known as the Salvador-Warts-Hippo or SWH pathway). Its function involves enhancing the phosphorylation of LATS1 and YAP1, ultimately leading to the suppression of cell proliferation and organ growth. This suppression occurs due to the inhibition of the transcriptional activity of YAP1, which is a key effector within the Hippo pathway.
WWC3 is also known as BM042.
