The WDR75 (WD repeat domain 75) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

The WD40 domain is found throughout many eukaryotic cell types and is known to be involved in cellular regulator functions such as pre-mRNA processing and cytoskeleton assembly. The function of the WDR75 protein is not defined by the scientific community.

WDR75 is a ribosome biogenesis factor that plays a critical role in the assembly of the small subunit (SSU) processome, the initial precursor of the small eukaryotic ribosomal subunit. Within the nucleolus, WDR75 collaborates with other ribosome biogenesis factors, an RNA chaperone, and ribosomal proteins. This complex interacts with the nascent pre-rRNA, facilitating RNA folding, modifications, rearrangements, and cleavage. WDR75 also contributes to the targeted degradation of pre-ribosomal RNA by the RNA exosome. It is involved in the nucleolar processing of pre-18S ribosomal RNA and is essential for optimal pre-ribosomal RNA transcription by RNA polymerase I.
