WASF3

Description

The WASF3 (WASP family member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

WASF3 is a gene that codes for a protein belonging to the Wiskott–Aldrich syndrome protein family. The protein encoded by WASF3 forms a multiprotein complex that links receptor kinases and actin. This complex plays a vital role in relaying signals that lead to changes in cell shape, motility, or function. The connection between the complex and actin is facilitated by a C-terminal verprolin homology domain present in all family members.

WASF3 acts as a downstream effector molecule, transmitting signals from tyrosine kinase receptors and small GTPases to the actin cytoskeleton. This protein plays a crucial role in regulating cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization, ultimately influencing cell shape.

WASF3 is also known as Brush-1, SCAR3, WAVE3.
