Description

The VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

VIP, or Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide, is a peptide hormone that plays a role in regulating various physiological processes. It is not a person of high social status, as the acronym might suggest. VIP is involved in processes like vasodilation, lowering arterial blood pressure, stimulating myocardial contractility, increasing glycogenolysis, and relaxing the smooth muscle of the trachea, stomach, and gall bladder.

VIP is also known as PHM27.
