VEPH1

Description

The VEPH1 (ventricular zone expressed PH domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

VEPH1 interacts with the TGF-beta receptor type-1 (TGFBR1) and prevents the release of activated SMAD2 from TGFBR1. This blockage hinders the movement of SMAD2 into the nucleus, ultimately weakening TGF-beta signaling. VEPH1 might also influence FOXO, Hippo, and Wnt signaling pathways.

VEPH1 is also known as MELT, VEPH.
