VCPIP1
Description
The VCPIP1 (valosin containing protein interacting protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
Deubiquitinating protein VCIP135 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the VCPIP1 gene.
VCPIP1 is a deubiquitinating enzyme that plays a role in DNA repair, reassembly of the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum following mitosis, and VCP-mediated reassembly of Golgi stacks and formation of transitional endoplasmic reticulum. It also mediates dissociation of the ternary complex containing STX5A, NSFL1C and VCP, and is involved in DNA repair following phosphorylation by ATM or ATR. VCPIP1 catalyzes deubiquitination of SPRTN, promoting its recruitment to chromatin and subsequent proteolytic cleavage of covalent DNA-protein cross-links. It hydrolyzes 'Lys-11'- and 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains.
VCPIP1 is also known as DUBA3, VCIP135.
