UTY
Description
The UTY (ubiquitously transcribed tetratricopeptide repeat containing, Y-linked) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome Y.
UTY is a gene found on the Y chromosome and is primarily expressed in males. It encodes a protein that functions as a histone demethylase, specifically targeting the removal of methyl groups from histone H3.
UTY is a male-specific histone demethylase that removes three methyl groups from lysine 27 of histone H3 (H3K27me3). It exhibits relatively low demethylase activity compared to other demethylases.
UTY is also known as KDM6AL, KDM6C, UTY1.
