USP29

Description

The USP29 (ubiquitin specific peptidase 29) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

USP29 plays a crucial role in the innate immune response against viral infections. It acts as a deubiquitinase, specifically targeting the 'Lys-48'-linked ubiquitination of cGAS. By removing these ubiquitin tags, USP29 stabilizes cGAS, a key protein in the innate antiviral pathway.

USP29 is also known as HOM-TES-84/86.
