UNC93A

Description

The UNC93A (unc-93 homolog A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

UNC93A, the human homolog of the C. elegans Unc-93 protein, is a transporter protein belonging to the major facilitator superfamily (MFS) and the atypical solute carrier (SLC) family. It shares close similarities with UNC93B1 and MFSD11. UNC93A's expression is influenced by amino acid deprivation in cell cultures and starvation in vivo. It is primarily expressed in neurons, with localization near the plasma membrane. Further functional studies in C. elegans provide additional insights into its role.

UNC93A is also known as Unc-93A, dJ366N23.1, dJ366N23.2.
