UNC5D

Description

The UNC5D (unc-5 netrin receptor D) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

UNC5D is a human gene encoding a protein involved in neuronal cell survival, cell adhesion, and cell guidance. It is a receptor for the netrin NTN4 and plays a role in axon guidance and apoptosis.

UNC5D, also known as Protein unc-5 homolog 4, is a receptor for the netrin NTN4, promoting neuronal cell survival. It plays a role in cell-cell adhesion, cell guidance, and cell migration. UNC5D is involved in axon guidance, mediating axon repulsion of neuronal growth cones in the developing nervous system upon ligand binding. It may also play a role in apoptosis in response to DNA damage and acts as a dependence receptor required for apoptosis induction when not associated with netrin ligand. UNC5D mediates cell-cell adhesion through its interaction with FLRT3 on an adjacent cell.

UNC5D is also known as PRO34692, Unc5h4.
