UNC5B
Description
The UNC5B (unc-5 netrin receptor B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.
UNC5B is a receptor for netrin, a protein involved in axon guidance. It mediates repulsion of neuronal growth cones during development, potentially through interactions with DCC. UNC5B also acts as a negative regulator of vascular branching during angiogenesis, mediating retraction of endothelial growth cones in response to netrin. In the absence of netrin, UNC5B functions as a dependence receptor, triggering apoptosis by activating DAPK1.
UNC5B is also known as UNC5H2, p53RDL1.
